Photoshop, Canva, and Figma Dashboards for Digital Signage

Why share design projects on office TVs?

Just about all modern design tools include built-in sharing. Copy a Figma link, drop it in Slack, and anyone in your company can join the design collaboration process.

Yet, not everyone has the time to check designs. They’re busy with development, management, sales, and more, and at best, will check designs once or twice when necessary. And they might not have an account in your design tool, or a license to add edits and comments.

How to share design projects in real-time on digital displays

Add Figma designs to digital signage

Figma’s collaborative vector design tools have become the new standard tool for app and website design. Your dev team can easily jump in and comment on your work—or, if you share your Figma designs on your company TV, they’ll be able to see how the design is shaping up in real-time.

You can easily share in-progress Figma projects using ScreenCloud’s Embed app. Just open a Figma design project and click the Share button near the top right corner of your screen. In the pop-up that appears, click Get embed code, and copy the code snippet from the pop-up.

Now, log in to your ScreenCloud account and click the Apps tab in the left sidebar. Scroll down or search to find the Embed app under Office Tools, then open it and create a new instance.

There, paste the embed code you copied from Figma in the Embed code field. After a moment, your design should appear in the screen preview pane on the right. 

Adjust the zoom factor by entering a value from 1 to 10 so it’s legible on screen. The default values should work to get an overview of your project, while a more zoomed-in view would show a closeup of one part of your designs. Click “Save & Close” when you’re done.

To put your Figma design on your office TV, click the menu button beside it in the Embed app, click Set to Screen, then choose your closest ScreenCloud display and confirm. Seconds later, your Figma design will now appear on your office TV, live updating every time your team changes anything in Figma.

Cast Sketch projects to a remote screen

Sketch is best known as a vector design tool for Macs, but it too has online collaboration features—and that’s the secret for putting Sketch on your digital signage.

With a public Sketch link from your design file, and ScreenCloud’s powerful Dashboards feature. To get started, launch Sketch on your desktop and load your project. Click the Share button, and then click the Copy Public Link button in the pop-up.

Now, log in to your ScreenCloud account using Google Chrome (or a browser that supports Chrome extensions) on your desktop and navigate to the Dashboards tab. You’ll need to ensure you have the free ScreenCloud Dashboard Recorder extension installed to proceed. Once you’ve installed it, click New Dashboard to continue.

In the text field near the top right corner of your screen, paste the public link you copied from your Sketch project, and click Go. Click Save & Preview to continue.

You’ll now see your Sketch design in the project preview that appears in a pop-up window. Click through any prompts or popups you may see, make sure your design is clearly visible, then click Finish Journey & Take Snapshot. You can either click your design or the canvas behind it to have ScreenCloud only capture that section, or choose to Select Entire Screen. Finally, click the yellow Finish Journey button in the lower right to close the Sketch window. 

We’re nearly done. Click Save & Preview on the Dashboards screen, then click Confirm in the following pop-up. Finally, click Close.

You can now set your Sketch design to any individual screen, or add it to a ScreenCloud Playlist or Channel to be displayed alongside your other signage content. And whenever your team changes anything on your Sketch file—on the web or your Mac—it’ll be synced to Sketch Cloud and displayed live on your ScreenCloud displays.

Add Adobe Photoshop and Other Creative Cloud Designs to Signage

Sketch isn’t the only desktop software paired with web-based sharing. Adobe’s core design tools, including Photoshop and InDesign, offer Creative Cloud sharing to let others review your work online. That’s the best way to put Photoshop designs on digital signage.

Displaying your Photoshop or other Adobe design projects works the same way as with Sketch: Open your file, click Share to grab the public link, and add it to a ScreenCloud Dashboard. With Adobe files specifically, it’s best to highlight just the design you want to display without the surrounding comments and UI.

Once you’ve got your public link from your Photoshop file and have added it to a ScreenCloud Dashboard, you can add it to a screen directly, or include it in a playlist to display in rotation with other content.

Add Canva to Signage

Photoshop and InDesign require significant time to master. Sketch and Figma lowered the bar, but still have a steep learning curve if you’re new to design. Canva, though, is perfect for inexperienced designers. It’s an online design tool with templates and simplified tools that is perfect for spinning up designs and collaborating on them with people across your team.

You can bring your Canva designs over to your office TVs with just a few clicks, using the handy Playgrounds feature in ScreenCloud that’s built to showcase web code. Start by logging in to Canva on your desktop and opening your design project.

Near the top right corner of your screen, click on Share > More > Embed > Embed (yes, there are two of them). Copy the HTML embed code that appears.

In ScreenCloud, navigate to the Apps section via the left sidebar and open the Playgrounds app. Click New Instance to start building a new playground, and select the Canva template to continue.

You’ll see three columns of code. In the HTML column, replace the <div id="root"></div> code in line 20 with the embed code you copied from your Canva design.

Give this Playground a name, and then click Save & Close. You can now set your Canva Playground to display on a single screen, or add it to any of your ScreenCloud Channels and Playlists to stream your live Canva designs to your team as they’re updated.

Share All of Your Design Work on ScreenCloud Screens

Embedding live copies of your Figma, Sketch, Canva, and Photoshop designs makes sense when they’re still in progress, and your team needs to know what’s changed. But once the designs are finalized, export the finished projects as image files to cloud storage services like Dropbox, OneDrive, or the Media tab in ScreenCloud. 

Or, you can set up fun automations that let you send images to your company TVs straight from your computer’s right-click menu. And with the help of ChatGPT, you can create branded CSS animations with text that updates based on certain events and triggers.
